Undertaking

Death is the only thing that unites everyone, a universal destination that is unavoidable and unstoppable.

Motorways are the space between physical destinations, never the destination themselves, facilitators for the journeys people make. Like motorways, funeral directors are liminal spaces, bridging the gap between life and death, yet these seemingly different spaces are more closely related than just through traffic collisions. They are vital parts of society, rarely thought about until they are needed.

The passing of time and the fragility of life is held in both of these spaces with their cyclical and permanent nature making life, death and motorways some of the only things certain to bring us all together.
